Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a medical procedure that uses injections of hyaluronic acid dermal filler to alter and improve the shape of the nose.
It does not involve any surgical incision, so is a quicker, safer and more convenient option than surgical rhinoplasty.
What happens during a rhinoplasty?
During the treatment, we inject a small quantity of dermal filler into the area of the nose that needs re-shaping.
The needles we use are very fine, so you may not even feel the injection. However, we can apply a topical numbing cream to the area if you need it.
The filler also contains an anaesthetic, to help minimise any discomfort from the injection.
The procedure, for one injection, takes about 15 minutes.
When will I see the results?
If you only need one injection of dermal filler, you will see the final results straight away.
Only a certain amount of dermal filler can be injected each time.
Depending on the degree of re-shaping needed to achieve the desired results, you may have one or more follow-up injections.
In this case, you will see the final results immediately after the last treatment session.
How long do the results last?
Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, the results of non-surgical rhinoplasty are not as permanent.
They should last between 9 and 12 months, during which time the dermal filler starts to break down naturally and is eliminated from the body.
This period can vary, though, partly depending your choice of product from the Juvederm range (Ultra, Smile or Volift).
It may also be affected by skin type and metabolic rate, as well as lifestyle choices – for example, whether you are a smoker or regularly use sunbeds.
To help you maintain the desired results, we may recommend that you have regular or occasional follow-up treatments.
What are the risks or side effects of the treatment?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty using hyaluronic acid filler is a low-risk treatment. It does not have the common side effects and recovery time associated with surgical rhinoplasty.
However, after the procedure, you may have some slight swelling and bruising to the treated area. This is common with dermal filler injection treatments, and usually subsides within 3 to 5 days.
Complications from the use of dermal fillers, such as allergic reaction, infection or skin necrosis, are very rare.
During your consultation for the treatment, we will discuss possible risks and side effects, and what to do if you have any concerns.
Aftercare?
After treatment, we will give you full instructions for how to look after the treated area and manage any side effects when you get home.
