Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Treatment at KL Cosmetic Clinics Doncaster
A PRP facial treatment is an advanced cosmetic treatment that involves injecting platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into the skin. PRP is a component of blood that contains growth factors and other proteins that promote healing on a cellular level. When injected into the skin, PRP can help improve texture and tone, reduce wrinkles, encourage new collagen growth and more.
Using the similar treatment method used for Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, Platelet Rich Fibrin Therapy utilises the healing potential of blood plasma to tackle certain skin such as acne scars, stretch marks, hair loss and sagging skin.
Suitable for various areas of the face and body, the elevated white blood cell content in PRF enhances its healing properties, making it particularly effective for treating skin conditions that require improvement for better appearance.

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. During PRP treatment, growth factors within your blood are harvested and administered to help regenerate cells at the treatment site. The growth factors trigger cell reproduction and stimulate tissue regeneration or healing in the treatment area. A small amount of blood is taken and processed at high speed in a centrifuge. This separates the blood into its constituent parts. The blood plasma is separated and prepared for use. A special microneedler applies the PRP solution to the affected area and injects it where it’s needed most. The idea is to deliver the healing elements contained within your blood directly to areas to accelerate healing and rejuvenation.
The use of your own blood elements is why it’s so effective in helping to tackle wrinkles, fine lines, skin discoloration, scarring and other skin conditions. Platelet-rich plasma is simply blood that contains more platelets than normal, and plays an important role in healing through the body.
Platelet-rich plasma is made from plasma (the liquid element of the blood), which contains antibodies which help to fight infections and heal the body, it makes up around half of your blood. This plasma is then spun in a centrifuge at high speeds to extract the red and white blood cells, leaving the solution with a high concentration of platelets.
The higher concentration of platelets in PRP helps to enhance its healing capabilities. Platelets contain cell reproduction properties which can stimulate tissue growth, making PRP especially effective for acne, stretch marks, and hair loss treatment.
PRF stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin. It’s an evolution of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) that uses a similar solution but with more stem cells, white blood cells and fibrin from your blood. These three components add to the healing potential of blood plasma to deliver even more healing potential. PRF treatments are used to tackle similar conditions to PRP. The PRF solution is created using similar methods. A small amount of blood is taken, like a blood test and placed in a centrifuge like with PRP. The main difference is, we spin it slower and use a gel carrier to help keep it liquid. The result of this new process is more stem cells, more white blood cells and fibrin within the PRF solution.
The PRF solution has a much higher concentration of platelets, which boost healing potential even further. Where PRP typically has a 5x concentration, PRF has 10x concentration. This is another significant boost to healing potential.
Platelet-rich Fibrin is comprised of blood which has been drawn from an individual and spun in a centrifuge at a low speed. Unlike platelet-rich plasma which extracts the white and red blood cells to create a higher concentration of platelets, platelet-rich fibrin keeps the white blood cells and stem cells within the plasma.
Utilising your platelets, PRF helps to encourage the body’s natural healing abilities by instructing the skin to generate new collagen, which provides support, and strength to the skin. The result is an injectable substance that can help to treat hair loss, acne, stretch marks and a wide range of other conditions.
PRP and PRF treatments are similar but there are key differences.

PRP is a component within your blood that contains growth factors and other proteins that promote healing and rejuvenation.
The activation of concentrated platelets in platelet-rich plasma releases growth factors that trigger cell reproduction and stimulate tissue regeneration. This increases the number of reparative cells your body produces, significantly enhancing the natural healing and rejuvenation process.
PRP therapy is a low-risk procedure and does not usually cause major side effects, however there are a few common side effects to be aware of, these include slight discomfort at the injection site, swelling, bruising, redness and skin irritation, itching, infection, or an allergic reaction.
All of these vary person to person and are often mild and temporary, resolving on their own within a short period.
A cold compress may be applied immediately after treatment to help reduce swelling and cool the area. It is best to avoid scrubbing or washing the injection site for at least 5 hours post treatment.
You should also avoid exposure to direct heat, and activities that will cause you to get wet/sweat for 48 hours post treatment. On the evening of your treatment, and for the next few days, wash your face gently with a mild cleanser twice a day.
Avoid makeup for at least 48 hours. After 2-3 days depending on healing, you may return to your regular skin care routine.
Typically, a course of 4 treatments is required to maintain results that can last between 6 and 9 months. A yearly maintenance session may be required to keep on top of desired result.
The procedure usually takes around 60 minutes. Most of the appointment time is spent separating the platelet-rich plasma from your blood sample.
This time includes an in-depth consultation prior to treatment, numbing time, the process of treatment and aftercare. A numbing cream will be applied 15-20 minutes prior to treatment.
