Our skin goes through a lot, and it’s no wonder that our body’s largest organ can show signs of wear and tear. Excessive UV exposure, environmental stresses, certain medical conditions, and the natural ageing process can affect our skin. From spider veins to hyperpigmentation, lines and wrinkles to acne scars, the skin can suffer a lot in the many years we are blessed with it, so we need to take care of it and treat it well, to maintain its health and radiant beauty.

At KL Cosmetic Clinics, we offer a revolutionary device-led treatment that is clinically proven to reduce and even eradicate some of life’s skin concerns, such as hyperpigmentation, sun spots and age spots, acne scarring and general signs of skin ageing such as lines, wrinkles and dehydration. This treatment is called Lumecca.

Am I suitable for a Lumecca treatment?

If you are experiencing the effects of over-exposure to the sun, who has acne scarring, broken or thread veins, and general skin ageing such as lines and wrinkles, Lumecca could be the perfect solution for you. However, as with all non-surgical treatments, whether injectable, topical or device-led, there are always contradictions and exceptions which can prevent or restrict the treatment from going ahead.

At KL Cosmetic Clinics, we offer a complete, complimentary, pre-treatment consultation with one of our skin specialists before any procedure can take place.

We will check your medical history to ensure that it is safe for you to have the treatment and that you understand all aspects of the process, from preparation to aftercare, so that you (and we) can make the informed choice as to whether Lumecca will be both safe and suitable for your individual skin requirements.

What happens after a Lumecca treatment?

There is no downtime following a Lumecca treatment, and you can return to your daily activities immediately afterwards. You might experience some redness and a slight warming of the skin, similar to sunburn; however, this will subside after a few hours. In the days that follow your Lumecca treatment, you might experience some swelling and very occasionally some bruising in areas that have been treated for thread veins or vascular lesions.

Again, all perfectly natural responses that will subside quickly. Your clinician will discuss what to do if you are concerned after a treatment; our medical staff are always on standby for your peace of mind.

When will I see results from my Lumecca treatment?

You can see sun damage and skin complexion concerns improve within a few days of treatment. However, expect to observe optimum results after around 1 to 2 weeks, where the skin will look clearer and more evenly toned.

For thread veins, results can be seen straight away and optimal results, seen at two weeks.

Pigmentation may become darker before it fades in the weeks that follow your Lumecca treatment. Full results are evident in around 10 to 14 days post-procedure.

Lumecca

Is it for me?

What is Lumecca?

Lumecca is a medical-grade skin device that uses laser IPL technology via photo-thermolysis by delivering specific wavelengths of light. This light energy interacts with the red and brown pigments of damaged or compromised skin. The pigments absorb the light and are destroyed, often in one session alone.

Lumecca has a high specificity and selectivity for pigmentation and redness created by sun damage and the ageing process and is one of the most potent treatments on the market for the concerns it treats.

Frequently asked questions

Where can Lumecca treat?

Lumecca is so versatile that it can treat all areas of the body. However, here at KL Cosmetic Clinics, we find that most of our patients request treatment on areas that are most exposed to sunlight, such as the face, neck, decolletage, hands, legs and arms.

What are the contraindications to Lumecca?

Pregnancy/breastfeeding

Direct sun exposure prior to treatment – avoid sun exposure one month before you have this treatment

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on your unique skin concerns, you may need 1 to 3 treatments initially, and top-up sessions may be required for pigmentation at 6 to 12-month intervals. Taking care not to expose your skin to direct sunlight and using a high-factor SPF sunscreen will reduce the need for regular maintenance sessions. Your skin specialist will tailor a bespoke plan to your specific skin concerns and desires for results in your initial consultation.

What aftercare is required following a Lumecca treatment?

Avoid direct sunlight for two weeks after your Lumecca treatment and use a high-factor SPF immediately after your treatment (we can recommend ZO Skincare for the very best results). We also recommend avoiding any other skincare for 24 hours post-procedure.

Is Lumecca painful?

No, you may feel a slight warming and mild stinging of the skin, but this is very minimal and will not affect the rest of your day or require pain killers.

However, if you are particularly sensitive, you may wish to take some paracetamol around 30 minutes prior to your treatment.
