Lip enhancement at KL Cosmetic Clinics, Doncaster

Lip enhancements are our most popular treatment.

In your consultation before we start the treatment, we will assess the amount of dermal filler needed to give you the best results. We will also discuss the procedure in detail, including aftercare, and answer any questions or concerns you have.

We also provide anti-ageing treatments using dermal fillers for restoring facial volume and reducing wrinkles and in the eight-point facelift.

Dermal filler treatments

In the past, there have been a number of high-profile cases that might put people off getting lip enhancement treatment. These cases involved silicone-based fillers, which have a significantly higher risk of allergic reaction and of producing unnatural-looking results.

Dermal fillers are based on hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally-occurring substance in the body. Over time, the body breaks down and eliminates the HA filler safely and completely.

So you can now get the plump and luscious lips you’ve dreamed of, with a treatment that’s easy, has minimal risk, few if any side effects and almost no downtime.

Lip Enhancement

Is it for me?

Lip enhancement (or lip augmentation) treatment uses dermal filler injections to help improve the appearance of thin and aged lips

The fillers add volume to the lip area, enhancing their shape and giving the lips a fuller, more youthful look.

Dermal filler treatments can also provide an anti-ageing lift to the mouth, especially where ageing skin makes the mouth turn down at the corners.

Injecting a small amount of filler into the corners of the mouth gently raises the contours, helping to remove the ‘depressed’ appearance.

We can use dermal fillers injections to treat most of the unwelcome signs of ageing skin: click here for more details.

Frequently asked questions

What happens during the treatment?

•   During your consultation for the treatment, we carefully assess the area around your lips to make sure we use the correct amount of filler for the desired results.

We also discuss the procedure in full, answering any questions or concerns you have about the treatment.

•   During the procedure, to make sure it is as comfortable as possible, we apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area. Dermal fillers also contain an anaesthetic, to further minimise the chance of pain or discomfort.

Once the area is numb, we begin the procedure, starting with injections along the vermillion border of the lip-lines.

These help to smooth out any tiny lines around the mouth, as well as give a lovely definition to the lip.

If you want more volume, then we inject the filler into the body of the lip.

The procedure takes around 30 minutes.

When will I see the final results?

There will be some improvement immediately after treatment, but you should see the final results after about 2 weeks.

This is the time it takes for the hyaluronic acid in the filler to work with the skin tissue.

How long do the results last?

How long the results last can vary, partly depending your choice of product from the Juvederm range (Ultra, Smile or Volift).

Generally, though, results will last between 6 and 9 months.

The filler breaks down naturally over time, but this process can be affected by various factors. These include your skin type and metabolic rate, as well as lifestyle choices – for example whether you are a smoker, or use sunbeds.

To help you maintain the desired results, we may recommend you have regular follow-up treatments.

What are the risks or side effects of the treatment?

Lip enhancement using hyaluronic acid filler is a low-risk treatment. It does not have the risk of disfigurement or allergic reaction associated with silicone-based fillers.

After your treatment, you may have some slight swelling and bruising to the lip area. This is common with injection treatments, and usually subsides within 3 to 5 days.

Your lips may also feel tender for a few days, but using an analgesic should help reduce any discomfort.

Aftercare

After treatment, we will give you full aftercare instructions for how to look after the treated area and manage any side effects when you get home.
