The nose is probably your most focal feature and can have a significant influence on your entire facial appearance.
If you have a nose which is out of proportion with your facial features and anatomy, you might be thinking that a surgical nose job is the only option to correct it. However, in Doncaster alone, hundreds of our patients here at KL Cosmetics are now enjoying facial correction using non-surgical methods, instead of going under the knife and one of our most popular and commonly administered treatments is non-surgical rhinoplasty (NSR), also known as the ‘lunchtime’ nose job. Non-surgical rhinoplasty is also a popular treatment alongside chin fillers
A non-surgical nose job utilises injectable dermal fillers to re-shape, re-structure the nasal area. The treatment takes as little as 15 minutes and results can last up to 2 years, depending on the individual. It’s important however, to undergo NSR safely and with good results with a fully-qualified medical professional, as with all injectable treatments.
Non-surgical nose jobs are increasingly popular in our Doncaster clinic. Patients leave sometimes highly emotional with their results.
To know how NSR works, we must first understand what fillers are and how they work.
Dermal fillers are injectable gel-like substances, containing hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring sugar which is found in the joints, eyes, conntective tissues and the skin. As we age, HA starts to deplete and this can cause skin ageing, dehydration and degradation.
When injected into the nasal area, dermal fillers containing HA can reshape and plump out areas of the nose requiring augmentation. A nose job using dermal fillers is particularly effective to rotate the tip of the nose upwards and correct asymmetrical lumps and bumps.
Our patients ask us if using dermal fillers will make the nose look bigger as there is more volume added. In a way this can be considered the case, however, as it is smoother and more contoured, it gives the illusion of a smaller nose with more symmetry and in keeping with other facial features.
Dermal fillers can successfully rotate the tip of the nose up, or smooth the appearance of bumps on the nose.
To decide if you are suitable for non-surgical rhinoplasty using dermal fillers, we will ask you to attend a no obligation, pre-treatment consultation. This initial meeting helps us to decide whether the treatment will be both suitable and effective for your concern.
Patient selection with a dermal filler nose job is key and it’s during this consultation that we will check your medical history and discuss with you, your expectations for results. If you have had a surgical rhinoplasty before, you are unlikely to be suitable due to altered anatomy.
To ease any discomfort that may happen during the injection process, your practitioner may apply some topical anaesthetic to the areas for treatment. However, most dermal fillers nowadays, contain Lidocaine, an injectable anaesthetic. Once you are comfortable, the treatment can commence and small amounts of the chosen dermal filler in to the areas requiring augmentation and correction.
Once injected, your practitioner may mould and shape the dermal filler for a natural-looking result. The whole procedure takes approximately 15 minutes; you’ll spend longer at a consultation than treatment!
Following the procedure, you can return to your daily activities as there is no clinical downtime to this treatment. However, there may be some slight swelling and bruising afterwards and you will need to follow some simple aftercare instructions, such as avoiding hot saunas, baths and steam rooms for up to 48 hours post-procedure, not rubbing the treated area, avoiding makeup for 24 hours and restricting your alcohol intake the night of your procedure and trying to sleep on your back, so that you do not press on to the area in your sleep. Essentially, minimizing contact with the treated area will prevent the dermal filler from being compromised or moved under the skin.
You will be able to see results immediately after your treatment. However, optimum results will be seen at around 2 weeks and it is at this time when you can return to the clinic for any adjustment or ‘top up’ if required.
Results from non-surgical rhinoplasty can last between 1 and 2 years. The clinic will always be there to monitor your filler, and make recommend maintenance appointments every 12-18 months if you wish to keep your results.
If you are unhappy with the results, we are able to dissolve the dermal filler with a substance called Hyalase. However, due to our comprehensive consultation process, here at KL Cosmetic Clinics in Doncaster, we have never had the cause to carry this out.
