After a full skin assessment and consultation have taken place and it has been mutually agreed a Tear Trough filler treatment is the appropriate choice for you, you can schedule your first appointment.
Upon arrival, your skin be cleansed and sterilised, and topical anaesthetic ointment may be applied to the treatment areas. Once your skin is numb, the cannula will be inserted into the skin issue to administer small amounts of Redensity 2 to the areas which require volumising.
Once your treatment is finished, you will receive everything you need for your aftercare and any additional information you may need.
At KL Cosmetic Clinic, we use the only licensed product specifically designed for the tear trough area: Redensity 2. This substance, like many dermal fillers, contains hyaluronic acid, which naturally occurs in the skin, helping to rejuvenate it and promote healthy skin tissue, resulting in a reduced appearance of the tear trough and an overall more youthful look.
Results should be noticeable immediately after treatment, but results will continue to improve over time, with your final results being visible at around 2 weeks.
Tear Trough treatment shouldn’t take longer than 15 – 30 minutes, not including prior consultation or the time taken for topical numbing cream to take effect.
You can expect the results of your treatment to last anything from 12 – 18 months. This is because the tear trough area can hold the dermal filler for longer than an area such as the lips. So, it’s a reasonably long-term outcome, compared to some other dermal filler treatments.
However, longevity or results will depend on your lifestyle and how you treat your skin and general health. If you smoke, sit in the sun often with no SPF, exercise excessively with lots of cardio (for example if you are a long-distance runner) expect your results to last slightly less than usual. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, will overall increase the longevity of your treatment results.
After your treatment, it is important to keep away from hot baths, saunas, and steam rooms at least a week after your treatment. You should also avoid excessively touching, rubbing, and sleeping on the treated area for 3 days and avoid wearing make up within a 12 hour period of the treatment.
We encourage you return to the clinic for a follow-up appointment 4 – 6 weeks after your treatment to check on your healing progress and administer a second treatment if required.
