What do dermal fillers do for the lips?

Dermal fillers improve the shape and size of the lips by means of 2 actions. Firstly, they are gel like substances, so when they are injected in to the vermillion boarder or indeed, in to the main body of the lips, they sit innately underneath the skin tissues, plumping them up and naturally ‘filling’ the area. Secondly they contain a substance called Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which takes on up to 1000 times its own weight in water and is found within the body, naturally. Therefore, it’s a superb hydrator for the skin, replenishing it and reducing the appearance of lines, wrinkles and dryness. Therefore replacing the volume we lose as we age or replenishing the volume we weren’t born with.

Am I suitable for dermal fillers for my lips at KL Cosmetic Clinic?

Before we agree to treat any of our patients with dermal fillers, we ask that you attend a no obligation consultation and facial analysis. Your KL Cosmetic Clinic practitioner will discuss your requirements, check your medical history and assess the anatomy of your entire face, to accurately plan the dermal filler treatment, so that it will look as natural as possible (no trout pouts!). After this meeting has taken place and we are satisfied that a lip filler treatment will be a safe and suitable option, you can go ahead and book your appointment for the treatment. Alternatively, if time allows and you’re happy and safe to go ahead, we can treat on the same day as your original appointment.

How long do results from lip fillers last?

This has always been a million dollar question and no patient is the same, when it comes to longevity of results from lip fillers. There are several factors which determine how long the results will last:

The quality and viscosity of the product used
The amount of product used
Your natural metabolism of dermal fillers
Factors such as environmental influences (sun exposure, pollution) and lifestyle choices (excessive exercise, smoking)

However, on average, many patients can enjoy results lasting between 6 and 12 months.
