Honey Derma PDO threadlifting Doncaster

Fast and safe natural thread-lifting with Honey Derma PDO Threads

PDO thread-lifting is a minimally-invasive, non-surgical procedure, which makes it a quicker and safer option than a surgical facelift. The treatment involves little or no downtime, no incisions and no scarring.

The dissolvable threads are made of PDO (polydioxanone), a biodegradable and biocompatible material used safely in medicine for many years.

The threads lift and tighten the skin, and stimulate the production of new collagen. This helps to create more volume in the skin, reducing wrinkles and tightening pores.

The results of PDO thread face and neck lift treatment usually last up to 2 years.

Frequently asked questions

How does PDO thread-lifting treatment work?

In PDO thread-lifting, dissolvable threads are inserted under the skin in the treatment area.

Each thread has a row of tiny cogs or barbs that attach to the subcutaneous layer of skin, securing the thread in the desired position.

The treatment then start to work in two ways.

Firstly, the threads provide an immediate lifting and tightening effect on loose or sagging skin. This is the result you will see straight after the treatment session.

Secondly, the process of inserting the threads under the skin stimulates the body's natural 'healing' response, resulting in the production of new collagen and elastin. This leads to the rejuvenation effect that becomes visible after a few weeks.

What happens during the procedure?

Before we start the PDO thread-lift procedure, we carefully cleanse and sanitise the area of your skin we are treating.

We also apply a topical anaesthetic (by numbing cream or injection) to the treatment area.

Using a very fine needle, we insert the PDO threads into the skin through a hollow cannula.

After removing the cannula, we trim any excess thread to make sure it's hidden below the surface of the skin. Then we gently smooth the treated skin to achieve the desired look.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment session may take around 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the area being treated and the number of threads used.

This includes time to cleanse the skin and for the local anaesthetic to take effect.

Is PDO thread-lift treatment painful?

PDO thread-lift treatment should not be painful, although you may feel a little discomfort during the procedure.

We take care to minimise any discomfort, however, with the local anaesthetic injection or cream.

Are there any side effects to a PDO thread-lift?

After a PDO thread-lift, you may have some bruising or tenderness at the injection site.

The threads can also cause some slight swelling.

Any bruising, tenderness or swelling should settle within a few days.

Downtime is also minimal, especially compared to facelift surgery. Most patients resume normal activities the following day.

You may feel some slight limitation in facial movement for a week or two after the treatment, and any puckering in the treated skin can be corrected with gentle massage.

Is PDO thread-lift treatment safe?

PDO threads have been used safely in medical procedures such as heart surgery for years.

The threads are fully and naturally absorbed by the body, over a period of about 6 months.

Serious side effects or risks from thread-lifting treatment are very rare, but may include allergic reaction to the anaesthetic or infection at the site where the threads were inserted.

If you have any concerns about PDO thread-lifting, we can discuss these in more detail during your consultation for the treatment.

When will I see results?

You should see some results immediately after your PDO thread-lift treatment.

However, results will continue to improve over the following few weeks and you should achieve the desired look in about 3 to 6 months.

This is the time your skin needs to respond to the threads and produce new collagen and elastin.

How long do the results last?

Although the results are not permanent, they usually last up to 2 years.
